Technological Learning

Technology is much more advanced than it was before, and could really increase the learning, and is realy effective. It also allows people to do assignments online to get work done quicker by typing instead of handwriting it, which can make it much easier. Typing things such as essays and posting information online is improving learning for modern day society.
Posting information online is great, because people can just view it easily, so that many students would be viewing it without a problem. Blogs are one example of this, since the teacher can post the information about the assignment on their blog for their students. Your blog can also be used to type essays as part of assignments like I am doing right now. Students may also comment on blogs for assignments which teachers may check. There are websites that students may need to go to such as coin3, that is used for college and career units to help students decide their career. The only other way to get information about a career is by asking someone with experience in that career, which is not as easy as just getting on the computer. Coin3 allows you to take a test and find what areas you are best at, and give you a list of related careers. You learn about many different career choices faster than you could without the Internet. Study Island is used to prepare students for the NJASK as homework better than just doing packets of work for practice. Technology is even used in the classroom, with clickers to take tests instead of wasting paper writing down the answers. It is used everywhere all around us.
Technology has really enhanced the way that we learn and get information. It was not this easy in the old times without electronics being as great as it is now. We use it almost all the time to improve our learning, not make it less.

All About Me

Hello Ms. Caroll. My name is Silas. I came from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. I like to do math in school, do social studies, and learn about science. What I like about is the cafeteria where you can talk with all of your friends and get a break from work. My elementary school did not have a cafeteria, so that we just sat in our classrooms for lunch. I do not like interpreting reading in English, but I do like reading long books. My strengths are reading and grammar, while my weaknesses are typing and interpreting writing. I do very well in English overall with a high average.
Our English starts with us writing down our homework, then we go over our grammar worksheet, have our lesson, and then we pack up. I find using the clickers for our grammar quizzes and vocab tests fun. I do not like having to type up essays that are two pages long. I hope that you have a great time with our class!

Career Goals

As I get closer to the end of school, I begin to think about my occupation as an adult. I have always thought that my job should involve math, considering it is my favorite subject and best subject. It took me a long time to decide what my career should be before I came up with an actuary. They do lots of mathematics and my sister is planning on becoming one. Actuaries make a lot of money too, and I may only have to go to college for four years instead of six years. The college that I have always wanted to attend is Rutgers. Both of my sisters go there, and I want to go there also because it is close to home so that I can still live at my house. My parents say that I should not go to Rutgers because they think that my grades will be good enough to get me into a great college like Harvard, but I still have not changed my mind. Well college is a long way off and there are still chances for me to change my mind along the way.

New Years Resolution

New years resolutions are important, because they help people improve themselves. This year my main resolution is to play better basketball. I am doing this, since my team is winless and the games have been blowout games. In my last game, we lost six to 35, in which I had zero points and my team made no free throws. Our closest game was a 14 point loss where I scored five points. I will try to accomplish my resolution by getting the ball more and practicing free throws. If I am successful, my team’s record will surely improve.

NBA Rules!

The Celtics have won 17 NBA Finals, the Lakers have won 16 NBA Finals, while the Magic have not won nearly as many. While these seem like fantastic records, let’s not forget Michael Jordan’s six NBA Championship titles in a row. No one will ever forget the days of Michael Jordan, who is currently the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. Right now, the main contenders for the NBA Finals are the Magic, Celtics, and Lakers. I am writing this in an effort to express the Magic winning the Finals.

The Celtics are on a 13-game winning streak, the Lakers are in third place, while unfortunately the Magic are in fourth place. The Celtics have the longest winning streak this season, the Lakers are on a five-game winning streak, and the Magic have made a huge blockbuster trade. They have traded Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus, Marcin Gortat, their 2011 first round draft pick, and money for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark from the Suns. This trade is bound to have effects for both teams. Many people think that because of the history for the Celtics and Lakers that they will meet again. Now that Hedo Turkoglu is back, the Orlando Magic will return to the Finals again, because he was a key part to their team when they made it to the NBA Finals two years ago. People think that because of the standings right now, the Lakers and Celtics are favored, but the underdog team sometimes manages to rally so that the Magic still have a chance to make it back to the Finals. Soon, things will start to go the Magic’s way.

It will be a really close finish between the Magic, Lakers, and Celtics that the NBA Finals have centered around the past few years. The Lakers and Celtics may have won many trophies, but do not count the Magic out. Michael Jordan still has the best plays in NBA history and will never be forgotten. Underdog teams always have a chance to rally. When you are picking a team to win the Finals, make sure to count the teams that have come close to winning in the past few years, in.
