Reflection on Advertisement

One of my favorite commercials was a Sprite commercial. In the commercial, there were guys at a
basketball court with Sprite. One person from each side would drink it from a bottle and run onto the court, and jump directly into each other, and make a big splash. It would show them inside of the splash enjoying it. Then, two other people would clash together in the center of the court, and do the same thing. Finally, one more pair of people would do it also. At the end of the commercial, they would just show a Sprite bottle. I liked the advertisement, because it combined my favorite soda, Sprite, with my favorite sport, basketball. Sprite is an excellent drink and this commercial helps prove it.

What I Thought About the College and Career Unit

I thought that the college and career unit was a little challenging. It was strange that we just got into middle school and then we were focusing about our career already. One thing that was very difficult was creating our own résumés, because we had to make everything up since we had no real experience. The letter of recommendation was easy though, because we just had to fill in the blanks of the template and type it. This unit also taught me that you have to be completely prepared for your interview or else you do not have a chance of getting the job. When choosing a college, I learned that you have to ensure that it suits you and contains your major. The personal assessments helped me find out my best skill and choose my career. It is important to know what college you are going to go to and what your major in college will be before your senior year of high school.

College Application Essay

I have had many experiences throughout my entire life so far. Many were in middle school, where there was the big shift from elementary school. One of my greatest experiences was in sixth grade specifically, which was very hard to win. It made many other people proud of me in the end of it.
One significant experience that I have endured is my middle school spelling bee. I earned first place in it at Herbert Hoover Middle School in sixth grade. There were a total of 90 students in my school that were competing in the event. We had a preliminary round a week before to decide who would be participating. Teachers in our homerooms gave us 20 words to spell on a piece of paper and hand in. The people that spelled the most words correctly were selected for the spelling bee. They posted a long list of all the people that had qualified for the event, one or two days after with my name on it. It was hosted the day before we went on Christmas break in the cafeteria. The students that were not participating had to write down the first 100 words used in the spelling bee, and it counted as a quiz grade. First place earned a $20 gift card to Barnes and Noble. I spelled most of the words correctly, all the way to the final two with my friend. Though I had several opportunities to win it, it took a very long time before I won on the word "unscrupulous". We used a total of over 120 words and took about two hours in the process. It was all worth it to get my reward and congratulations from my friends.
This experience showed that I was an excellent speller and could work well under pressure. It also made my friends think that I was really smart and a gook worker. I worked really hard to win the spelling bee as I also do with my other assignments in school that I receive.
